Celebrating 100 developers in the HbbTV Slack community

Last summer, I took on the role of leading the HbbTV Developer Programme with a clear mission: to foster innovation through a vibrant and connected developer community. Having been involved with HbbTV since its early days, I’ve always believed that supporting developers is fundamental to the success and evolution of the platform.

One of the first initiatives was to launch a Slack community dedicated to HbbTV developers. The goal was simple — to create a space where developers could connect, share ideas, exchange advice, and discuss technical challenges in a familiar, collaborative environment.

Just over a year later, the community has reached 100 members. While that’s a small number compared to the more than 100 million HbbTV devices now deployed worldwide, it’s an encouraging milestone that demonstrates the growing enthusiasm among those building interactive TV experiences.

The Slack group has become a useful hub for sharing updates, learning from each other, and staying informed about new tools, specifications, and events across the HbbTV ecosystem.

If you’re working with HbbTV or interested in developing for the platform, you’re warmly invited to join the conversation:
